Losing a pet is one of the most heart-wrenching experiences we face. Our animal companions are cherished members of our families with unwavering loyalty, unconditional love, and ability to live in the present moment. They remind us to embrace each day with joy and gratitude, to cherish the relationships we hold dear, and to trust in the power of connection. When they transition to Spirit, the grief we feel can be profound and overwhelming.

Often, we are left with so many questions after a pets passing. We wonder if our pet was ready to go to the other side? Did we wait too long to relieve them of their pain and discomfort? Let's explore these questions.

Pets are intuitive. They see what we are thinking with their extrasensory abilities. Experiences my clients have shared with their pets is magical. For example, you may have thought a split-second ago, to go for a walk and your dog companion is already at the door. Or you are putting on your boots to groom your horse, and he’s run to the other side of the field before you’ve stepped outside. Or in an hour you will be taking the cat to the vet and she’s hiding in the house.

When we are sorrowful and grieving about the news of our pet's illness, our pets will comfort us and minimize their own pain. We'll see this as our pet being extra cuddly, abnormally playful and energetic. We'll look at this behaviour and think that the vet got it all wrong! My pet is fine! And herein lies the confusion and hesitation to euthanize. We use our minds to look at our pets rather than see our pets with our Souls.

Our pets have the ability to live their lives from one moment to the next moment. The animal kingdom is blessed to be without a chattering mind, and so, their extrasensory psychic abilities are a way of life. Living one moment to the next allows our pets to not fear death. Death is a normal phase of life. When their moment comes to cross over to Spirit, they embrace it, and they are greeted by your Spirit family. They continue to be part of your family from the other side and you will experience clues of their presence with you.

Grieving the loss of a pet is an opportunity for our Spiritual growth and understanding. Through introspection, reflection, and seeking deeper spiritual truths, we may find meaning and purpose in the face of their loss. Our pets were brought to us for this purpose and trust that we do the best we can with their care. Their bond to us transcends this physical universe. Death is a transition and not an end.
